Christmas Prayer for the Family: Christmas is a special season, known both by Christians and non-Christians alike. It is a celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. And for the family, it is an opportunity to spend time together, appreciate God, and share with those who don’t have.
The Birth of Jesus
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Luke 1:30-33
and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. Luke 2:7
The Significance of Christmas
Being a celebration of the birth of Christ, Christmas is an appreciation of God’s love for man, and His effort to redeem man by taking up mortality to die for the sins of man. It is a season beyond just festivals. It is a celebration of grace.
Family Celebrations of Christmas
In many families across the world, it is a time to buy new things and new wears. It is a time to cook special meals and enjoy rare fellowships together. For some, it is a reunion but most importantly, as we deck the halls with boughs of holly let us remember that christmas is not christmas without Christ.
Christmas Prayers for the Family
Thanksgiving: Father, thank You for the opportunity to see another Christmas season. Be glorified in Jesus’ name.
Happiness, joy, and abundance: In this season, I pray that there be dancing in our homes, may our streets be brimming with happiness, our barns filled with plenty, and our presses burst out with new wine.
Provision: Lord, help us to recognize those who may need our help or love this season and beyond. Use my family to be a blessing to the less privileged. Provide for those who don’t have. Let this season bring joy to the downcast, provide comfort for the forgotten and unloved. Put your love in their heart and let them know you love them just the way they are.
Increased Love and Unity: Father, make this Christmas an opportunity to bring our families together with stronger love and unity in Jesus name. Make us value each other more than ever.
May Your glory fill the whole earth as the waters cover the seas and may peace reign supreme in our hearts, homes, and land.
Appreciation: Thank You for answering our prayers. In Jesus’ name, I have prayed. Amen!
